We will be releasing in a few weeks the first version of MAVPilot. This is a “Ground Control Station for your Pocket”. Its target audience is iPhone users (iPad version will come later). Pilots often fly unaccompanied and this can make it difficult to use a laptop at the same time. This is more so when a pilot is using a semi-auto mode like Alt-Hold. Using your iPhone instead is a great way to keep focused on the MAV and still have all the useful information in reach. With inbuilt text-to-speech support your iPhone will let you know instantly the status and if anything starts to go wrong.
MAVPilot will incorporate the FIND MY DRONE feature.
Features Targeted for V1.0 of MAVPilot
- Telemetry Screen showing flight information e.g
- Speed
- Altitude
- Yaw
- Rate of Climb
- Battery Voltage
- Battery Remaining %
- GPS accuracy
- Throttle %
- Mode Control e.g.
- Auto
- Stabilize
- Alt Hold
- Land
- RTL
- Loiter
- Map View with Mission outline
- Mission Waypoint editor
- includes waypoint parameter editing
- Configuration
- Calibration for level
- Commonly used parameter editing
- Tuning of common parameters
The app is also compatible with Bluetooth Low Energy link to a long range radio like 3DR 915/433MHz Telemetry Radio. Details to follow soon.
Compatibility: ArduPilot (other MAVLink compatible products will be added at a later date)

Will it Work with Walkera QRX 350 PRO?
hi Bill
greate to see someone working on this
couldnt get to the testing of it but i have few quads using APM systems
also few with multiwii and MPNG .
would love to help in any way you may need testing it in flight.
is there a release date set ?
So… any indications on when there might be a version released in the Appstore? I would really like to use this software with my drone…
Opps I meant beater iPhone,,, if there is such a thing
🙂
Wow I’m really looking forward to a release!!!!! Any idea when it will be ready for a public release on the App Store? Im ready to buy the parts list and a dedicated beater iPad like right now! I really appreciate you working in this!! I’ve had issues with android versions. A real nasty gremlin that displays the wrong battery strength if you switch batteries and don’t completely force quit the app EVERYTIME. I have at least one crash because of that issue and it was on separate apps but same droid os so it’s the droid.
Is there a projected release date for MAVPILOT in the Apple app store or jailbroken app store? Also, will this work with the DJI Phantom 2? Thanks… Scott
It will not work with the DJI Phantom, sorry.
Bill,
Just forgot to tell that I am flynig a Skywalker with APM and a DJI Phantom 2 Quad,
Regards,
Dave
Hi Bill,
I would like to test the ground station on my IPAD Air – do you have a version for it ?
I am currently running the DJI GS package on the Ipad, and want the PC MissionPlanner on the Ipad
ME too, I want this version to be out, It works with APM and ArDrone 2.0 with the Flight Recorder. It an iPhone only version at the moment, but an iPad version will follow soon (I hope)
Sign me up for whatever you need help with. I work a regular job but “All” my spare time is spent messing with all things that fly and all things that spark! I currently have APM2.6 & PixHawk, both in Hexacopters. I run a Macbook Pro, Android Tablet & have both iPhone & Galaxy S4. Let me know if you need a hand. Cheers!
Hi Bill,
how are you doing with the development of MAVPilot? It looks like you are going to develop something very interesting. If you looking for more “pilot testers” you can contact me. I do have a AR drone 2.0 with Iphone 4s and can test it with a Iphone 5 and/or IPAD 2 as well.
I do live in the Netherlands.
Regards,
Bert P.
I’m curious to know how development and testing of MAVPilot is going. This looks like a great app.
This looks awesome. I nearly bought an MAV the other day and now I want to buy one just so I can use this!
Excellent work, keep it up !
happy to help with the testing
cheers
Marco
